In the next episode, the Normals will beat up a weakened NIVALIS in Frozen Lake and hopefully find another member. Why didn't HERMAN's RAPNUX get any Normal moves until the late 20s? It was a good time to end the session. HARDING finally got his RAPNUX at Level 6 and found to his joy that it already started with Double Slash. DINJA hit itself in confusion once before ending the battle with a Palm Flurry. CALFTER Stunned HYPHOON for a round as if it had Headbutted a Pokemon, and Scratched FLOROZARD to death. BASIL's Electrode dealt a disappointing 5 damage to HYPHOON even with an Effective multiplier, and the baby dragon had to tag out before Spinning Kick sent it back to its Nexotrap. Psychic Blast almost killed PAUPO, but it used the last of its Stamina to Incinerate DIVETTE. PAUPO cast Incinerate twice on FLOROZARD until it couldn't stand the heat and retreated to DIVETTE. The scientist sent out a Level 9 FLOROZARD, a Level 9 DIVETTE (Psychic), and a Level 9 HYPHOON (Wind). I spent far more time than I should have looking for a RAPNUX in the Outlands, only to realize that I forgot to activate the quest to send it into the wild in Parum's laboratories! As of the end of this episode, it was disappointing in battle. HARDING took a detour to Drake Isles and subdued a BASIL, which probably had better potential than GOATEEZE as an Electric attacker. Starter Pokemon tend to have the opposite problem where they only have Normal moves until they gain a few levels (i.e. CALFTER would remain on the team for its unique (so far) Plant move selection, which would give the Normals a chance against Psychics.ĭINJA finally learned a Normal type attack after reaching Level 8: Palm Flurry. A GOATEEZE caught afterwards knew Electric attacks. GRUFF had Wind as its secondary offense type, but RAPNUX was superior for that niche. SKUNQUTE and CLODDY had redundant Mineral moves, MOGA had nothing worthwhile. HARDING found a Level 5 GRIFF around Parum, and consulted the move relearner to determine who would be cut from the team. PAUPO will be the designated Ghost killer. This changed quickly when HARDING captured a Level 5 PAUPO, who started with the 120 power Incinerate! PAUPO was good enough to fight some tamers solo while walking to Parum, such as one with a Level 5 CLODDY and a Level 5 MASQUITI (Psychic). My team was weak enough at this point that its real strength was in having 6 members. HARDING's next destination was the beaches of Palmaya. HARDING caught SKUNQUTE in the tutorial cave, and other Nexomon like RUBBY, CALFTER, CLODDY, and MOGA before advancing the story. Individual Normal types can have any other element as their "secondary" offensive type. Monsters of other elements get their own type + Normal attacks. Their advantage as a monotype team is that their offense is versatile. Normal types in this game have no resistances and are weak to Psychic and Ghost. Nexomon Extinction's Normal type is superficially similar to Pokemon's, but has a few differences from the inspiration.

"Rocky Rift" doesn't sound like a move a Normal starter would begin the game with. Fire Claw totaled DINJA for 26 damage, more than its 22 HP at Level 6. Rocky Rift knocked GRALOON down to 579/616 HP as DINJA dodged a Meteor Shower. He picked DINJA as his starter and lost to GRALOON the Mineral dragon, but did so with style. Since it was going to be a team of all Normal types, I named the player character HARDING after the early 1920s president who campaigned on a "return to normalcy". So Story Mode it was, with the "No Battle Items" restriction on the honor system as with HERMAN. Unfortunately, the lowest amount was 50%, and that would have made the challenge too easy. A monotype team would naturally need a higher level than HERMAN's balanced team, and there was an option to boost experience gain. Nexomon Extinction Return To Normalcy Part 1: RAPNUX Is Backīefore starting this playthrough, I looked at the Custom Mode settings.
